Construction walls and rolling planters now block the docks of the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom as demolition work begins.

Signage is gone from the former Riverboat Landing where guests boarded the Liberty Belle. It used to say “Riverboat Landing” above the entrance. Signs on the side displayed the operating hours.

A blue rope is across the entryway while rolling planters are inside the waiting area. The Liberty Belle is no longer in the park, but is still docked backstage.

The dock’s exit ramp between the landing and The Haunted Mansion is blocked by a set of gray construction walls. More walls run along the water in front of The Haunted Mansion’s entrance.

A single door is at the end of the ramp on the other side of the landing. Right now, these construction walls are less intended to block the view of ongoing work and more to prevent guests from entering closed areas. It will be almost impossible to completely block demolition and construction from view right now.

A yellow house with a porch sits by calm Rivers of America, bordered by trees and a fence under a partly cloudy sky.

On Tom Sawyer Island, we didn’t initially see signs of construction. Aunt Polly’s looks the same as it has for the past several years.

However, we did see construction crew members on their lunch break at Huck’s Landing. Some of the props at the landing have red tags, indicating they should be removed. The boat parked at the dock is not one of the themed rafts guests used to take, but a maintenance boat for the crew members.

Brown construction walls block access to the Tom Sawyer Island dock on the near side of Rivers of America. This is where guests used to catch a raft to the island.

Like the walls around the Riverboat Landing, these only serve to block access to the dock and don’t actually block the view.

Sunday, July 6, 2025, was the last day of operation for the Liberty Square Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island, and Rivers of America. The island officially closed just before 8 p.m. while the riverboat continued operating until 9 p.m. Check out the last-ever ride on the Liberty Square Riverboat.

The My Disney Experience app now shows the area as one big patch of trees. It will be replaced by a “Cars” expansion to Frontierland.

Due to the construction of the “Cars” area and Disney Villains land, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now operating in shuttle mode.
