As the demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida continues, a mass of huge black barrels has appeared among the construction equipment, and even more sections of track have disappeared.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Demolition

The demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit began back in June, even though the coaster operated through August 17. Soon after, Universal wasted no time in removing several pieces of track overnight and then dismantling the ride’s final loop.
Now, among the excavators and dirt mounds on the site, several large black barrels have appeared in the dirt pit where the last loop once resided. Their purpose is currently unknown.

Rip Ride Rockit’s lift hill still towers over the New York section of the park, although the track for the first drop has been removed. A large crane is visible in the distance behind the hill.
Additional Track Removed

Over on the roofs of the nearby studio buildings, several more track sections have been cut off and removed.

The end of this track section is still visible at the moment, but the sections that were cut are now black. This track used to extend over the edge of the roof, but now only a small portion remains.

More removed track sections are visible above the construction walls near the guest walkways.

Universal has officially stated that a new experience will replace Rip Ride Rockit, but no further information has been shared. There are plenty of rumors, including a new multi-launch roller coaster by Intamin or an attraction based on Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, or Fast & Furious, based on construction wall designs.

A permit filed in March cited a two-story building being built on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit site.
