Universal Studios Japan, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, will revamp its summer nighttime entertainment this year with “Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up.”

“Matsuri” refers to Japanese festivals. In the evenings, Universal Studios Japan will transform into a dazzling nighttime festival with colorful neon lights. There will be dance shows, street performances, glowing menu items and merchandise, a lively food market, and games.

The new nighttime show “NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri” will feature Sesame Street characters, My Melody and Kuromi, Woody Woodpecker and Winnie Woodpecker, and performers dressed in yukata (summer kimonos). Guests will cool down with splashes of water during the experience, which is set to music by producer and DJ Tofubeats. This will take place in Gramercy Park up to twice each evening.

“Minions BOO-YA Block Party” will see DJ Stuart spinning ’80s electro-pop tunes as guests dance with Minions. Guests can enjoy this party at Mel’s Stage up to twice each evening.

“Glow Up Street Performances” throughout the park include four new acts: “Summer Night Street Action,” “Hello! Neon Summer Greeting,” “Summer Beat Splash,” and “Summer Night Bubble Fantasy.”

“Summer Night Street Action” is a high-energy performance featuring double dutch and BMX tricks. Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street will appear during this show on the street in front of Stage 22 in the Hollywood area.

The “Hello! Neon Summer Greeting” features Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel in colorful summer-exclusive yukata. Guests can dance with them and take photos with neon props on Green Street in the Hollywood area.

“Summer Beat Splash” is inspired by West African and Brazilian celebrations featuring rhythmic music combined with water. It will be near the Universal Market in the New York area.

A six-member girl group will dance with bubbles and colorful lights during “Summer Night Bubble Fantasy” in the Hollywood area.

The neon-lit Universal Market in the New York area will offer street food like glowing drinks and churros inspired by chocolate bananas. Restaurants and food carts throughout the park will have other special menu items. Carnival games, also in New York, will offer neon-colored plush prizes.

At the lagoon, the “Summer Glow Moment” will bring the night to an end with fireworks and music. This will take place on select days only at 8:55 p.m.

“Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up” will take place from Wednesday, July 1 through Wednesday, August 26, 2026, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. most days. No event will be held on Friday, August 21. The event will end at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, August 22.

Summer Festival Enjoyment Set

The Summer Festival Enjoyment Set will include a special viewing area for “NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri,” a Super!! Chocolate Banana Churro, a Goldfish Lemon Cider with neon cup, and an Express Pass for one attraction.

For the Express Pass, guests can choose from:

• Minion Mayhem Ride
• Hollywood Dream – The Ride
• Jurassic Park – The Ride (Closed June 24 – July 7, 2026)
• JAWS

The ticket will go on sale on Monday, May 18, for a validity period of July 1 through August 26. It is ¥5,650 for adults and children.

“NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri” Special Viewing Area Ticket

The “NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri” Special Viewing Area Ticket offers just priority viewing for the show. This will go on sale on Thursday, April 30, for the event period. It starts at ¥1,700, varying by date.

“Universal VIP Experience Private Tour – Ultimate Luxury Plan”

One group per day can purchase the “Universal VIP Experience Private Tour – Ultimate Luxury Plan.” This one-of-a-kind luxury experience includes customized dining plans:

• Lunch at popular restaurants like Kinopio’s Café or Three Broomsticks
• Dinner at the exclusive VIP restaurant “Luminant” with stunning views, or a special course meal at Parkside Grill

Additional perks include:

• Guided access to popular areas near closing time (like having the park to yourself)
• Special character greetings
• Exclusive merchandise gifts
• Private ride access on attractions like JAWS and Jurassic Park – The Ride

The VIP Experience is ¥949,800 for up to four people. It will go on sale Tuesday, May 19 for a validity period of July 20 through August 31.
