If “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” has to go down due to unexpected issues, Disney has revealed that a different show may be presented in the Main Street Opera House instead.

‘Walt Disney – A Magical Life’ Contingency Plan

The contingency plan is found in a fine print disclaimer for the “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” virtual queue. Here is the full text from the bottom of the page:

The Opera House Lobby area is available approximately 15-20 minutes before showtime. Capacity is limited. Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to experience Walt Disney — A Magical Life. Showtimes are subject to change and cancellation. In some circumstances, The DisneyLand Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln may be presented instead.

Based on this text, guests who join the virtual queue specifically for “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” may experience “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” if the Walt show has unexpected downtime. This type of unscheduled downtime could happen due to issues with the new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic or other technical aspects of the show. Tech problems aren’t uncommon for brand-new animatronics or attractions.

“Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” is currently on hiatus for the initial run of the Walt Disney show. After that, the two shows will play in rotation thanks to a turntable stage.

Disney has not announced exactly how long the initial run of the Walt Disney show will be. It premiered on July 17 for the Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration, which will continue through the summer of 2026. “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” will have a new set when it returns.

The virtual queue for “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” opens in the Disneyland app at 7 a.m. and again at noon. Guests who join the queue will later be notified when it is their time to view the show.

“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” begins with a showing of the 15-minute “Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream” documentary with new narration by Bob Iger. The Walt Disney animatronic then appears and speaks to the audience thanks to archival voice recordings. Watch our video of the Walt Disney animatronic’s performance below:
