MLB Atlanta Braves will not be moving out of Walt Disney World after the end of the 2018 Grapefruit League season.
The Braves, who are currently building their new spring training facilities in Sarasota County, will be staying at Champion Stadium in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex through April 2019, as first reported by the Orlando Sentinel.
The final 2019 Spring Training game will be played in the Braves’ new stadium, according to a news release by Disney and the team.
The new complex in North Port will officially open in April 2019, coinciding with the team’s Florida operations moving in then.
The Braves have held their Spring Training at Champion Stadium since 1998, and 2020 will be the first full season for the team in Sarasota County.
As of now, no future tennant for the stadium has been announced. With all current teams in the Grapefruit League already settled in other parts of Florida, the future of Champion Stadium is unknown.
