*NEW* Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese – $5.00

Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese – $5.00

This was basically a homemade grilled cheese, made with white and yellow cheddar cheese on white bread. It comes with tomato soup in a cute can themed to the Food Studio. The soup isn’t too tomato-y or watery. It’s more like a bisque, with a thick layer of cream on top to cut through the acidity of the tomatoes. You can probably skip this unless you really want the souvenir plastic can.

*NEW* Tomato Soup with French Onion and Bacon Grilled Cheese – $5.25

This was definitely elevated by the change in bread and with the addition of bacon, but somehow, this still fails to impress. It feels like someone had the idea for the cans and needed a dish to fit it—and while we appreciate the nod to Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup I (mixed with the art of Roy Lichtenstein), this isn’t a particularly special festival dish. That being said, it might be fun for kids.

Shrimp Ceviche with Lime Mint Foam – $6.00

Shrimp Ceviche with Lime Mint Foam – $6.00

For the price we paid, we got a lot of shrimp for the money, which was surprising. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste great. Ceviche typically has a much more pungent citrus flavor with lime and lemon juice. This really didn’t have any lime or lemon flavor at all. The lime mint foam was more of a very bland sauce, if you can call it that. There was a slight overload on peppers, with no citrus to cut the intensity of the pepper. Sadly, the quality didn’t match the quantity.

Almond Frangipane Cake layered with Raspberry Jam and Belgian Chocolate – $4.50

Almond Frangipane Cake layered with Raspberry Jam and Belgian Chocolate – $4.50

This dessert is brilliant in its simplicity. The chocolate icing, exquisitely moist cake, and raspberry jam mix for one of the best festival treats I have ever had. I know it probably sounds dumb to enjoy a fairly regular cake item at an event with rarer dining delicacies, but it was just made so perfectly. Plus it’ll look great on your Instagram hashtag ArtfulEpcot

Pop’t Art: Modern-designed Sugar Cookie with Strawberry Filling – $4.50

REVIEW: “The Painter's Palate” Food Studio – Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2017
Pop’t Art: Modern-designed Sugar Cookie with Strawberry Filling – $4.50

It’s a pop-tart and cookie hybrid, this year with a strawberry filling. You may remember 2017’s version had a hazelnut filling and we felt it was a sugar rush. Well, this isn’t much of a change. Again, you can get some really cool pictures and every piece is unique, but it’s not unique enough to warrant a purchase especially at the price tag.

I’ve never had a sparkling beer before, so I applaud its presence. I will wish it tasted good though. It was pretty think, almost gelatinous. It’s pretty offputting.

Fairytale Cuve

Whoever thought boba should be included in champagne should be shunned, because it just doesn’t work. It’s a fun drink, but you quickly learn that it’s difficult to A) sip and enjoy before being left with random boba, or if you B) get a straw and learn the hard way that champagne can’t be sipped through a straw without it bubbling everywhere. It’s a fun cocktail and the passion-fruit boba work well with the champagne. They’re using a FairyTale Celebration Cuvée, which is also enticing in itself.

Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary – $14.00

Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary – $14.00

This fun and beautifully presented drink was fantastic. Bloody Marys are hard to review because they are extremely subjective. Some people might think it’s extra spicy and not mild enough, or too mild. That being said, our group of taste testers all agreed this is a delicious Bloody Mary. You won’t get big flashy garnishes on this, but it’s tasty and well presented in a great Pop Eats!-themed clear can. It’s a good beverage and a neat souvenir all in one.
