Jungle Cruise Makeover Will Not Feature Any Movie Characters or Tie-Ins

Announced earlier today, the Jungle Cruise attraction at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will be receiving new scenes and an updated storyline.

While these changes seemingly line up with the release of the Jungle Cruise movie, now set to release in 2021, it has been confirmed that there will be no significant tie between the new changes and the Jungle Cruise movie.

Here is a quote from Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Portfolio Executive Chris Beatty:

I’m excited about the movie, and having Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt be a part of that film. But these adjustments are really focused on enhancing the existing attraction storyline and addressing some areas that needed refreshing along the way. I’m sure the film is fantastic and we’re very excited about it, but integrating the film into our classic Jungle Cruise is not part of this effort. Does that mean that as Imagineers we won’t put Easter eggs in there? We’ll definitely do that. But we are not adding a major storyline or character from that film.

While there may be Easter eggs that nod to the new movie in the attraction, there will be no large connection between the two enterprises. Read the entire interview here.

  1. When do they announce revisions to Trader Sam’s? I’m assuming he isn’t long for this Earth over on Jungle Cruise.

  2. another cave to the constantly outraged and offended. hope you can make a good living and profits of those folks disney.

  3. Omg…..can we stop being super sensitive about everything….let’s change splash mountain, let’s change the jungle cruise, let’s change pirates of the Caribbean, let’s add disclaimers to every movie ever made that might offend somebody……let’s just close the park, stop making movies……better yet if YOU don’t like it stay home or just don’t watch it……problem solved

  4. “Along with our new skipper story line and in keeping with the rich tradition of the Chapek regime, the Jungle Cruise experience will continue to have a “mystery” boat that sinks” thank you, Skipper Kevin.

  5. How about they finish the stuff they promised last year or is that to hard? I mean look at the Tron coaster boarded up and reportably not going to be done until 2022. This is just how disgusting a Chapek running Disney has become!

  6. To the folks whining, Jungle Cruise has undergone LOTS of changes from each one’s opening day, removing negative depictions of native people is a good move. Like the additions in 1976, they’ll probably add more ride effects or animals.
