Epcot Food & Wine 2018 Thailand

Thailand returns for the third consecutive year in the 2019 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, taking place August 29 – November 23, 2019. All of the food offerings at this booth are the same as last year. All items return from last year, though shrimp replaces the shrimp and scallop cake on the cold noodle salad.

Marinated Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Stir-fried Vegetables – $5.00

Marinated Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Stir-fried Vegetables, $5.00

In 2017, this dish surprised on multiple fronts. The chicken sits between a mild peanut sauce on top and a nice portion of stir-fry vegetables below. While peanut sauce isn’t on everyone’s weekly diet, we recommend giving this dish a shot, because it’s not as foreign as you’d expect and it has a tasty flavor profile.

Shrimp and Cold Noodle Salad – $5.25

This is outstanding. It’s served chilled, so it’s very refreshing. The noodles were well cooked and the vegetables mixed well with them. The shrimp overall were well cooked and paired well with the dish.

Just look at those sear marks! The Thai seasoning on this with the fresh sliced green onions is great, too.

Red Hot Spicy Thai Curry Beef with Steamed Rice – $5.50

There’s more cauliflower than beef in this curry. The “red hot” also appears to in name only, because the actual spice content is noticeably lacking. We’ve had spicier things at other locations in the festival, so don’t let the name deter you if you don’t do spice. Let the lack of beef and overall average nature of the entire dish keep you away.

Singha Lager (5% ABV) – $4.50

Singha describes their lager as “full-bodied and rich in taste, with strong hops character.”

Maison Willm Gewürztraminer, Alsace ($14/bottle) – $6.00

Willm describes their Gewürztraminer: “The aromatic nose offers passionfruit and hints of rose. In the mouth, the attack is supple yet fresh, with floral notes (violet and rose) accompanying the fruit. The final is well-balanced, enhanced by spicy notes of pepper and ginger.
