As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Disney Vacation Club, members will soon have access to an exclusive lounge in the Imagination! pavilion at Epcot:
Available in late spring 2016, Members will be able to relax and get their Member Services questions answered in this brand-new lounge, located in the Imagination! Pavilion in Future World at Epcot.
The lounge will feature comfortable seating, complimentary soft drinks, strong Wi-Fi, charging stations, helpful Member Services Advisors and computers with printers, and will serve as a gathering place for Members to meet up and celebrate their pride for Disney Vacation Club.

While we were unsure of the exact location of the lounge since that it announced, a reader was nice enough to send in some artwork of the new lounge that will re-open the former lobby of the old upstairs ImageWorks at the Imagination! pavilion (which has been mostly closed to guests since October 1998):

While it may not be something open to all guests, it is nice to see such a beautiful space return to functionality after all these years.

  1. Absolute garbage. Guests and fans have been wanting that area reopened as a re-imagining of the old ImageWorks for years, and they have been very vocal about it. This is really just a slap in the face to all of the dedicated Imagination fans. It’s another case of Disney not listening to their fans and, once again, catering to just their wealthy visitors.

    • Jack, You sound bitter. I am a DVC member. There should be some perks for DVC members because many of us contribute heavily towards Disney’s bottom line.

    • This has nothing to do with “wealthy visitors”, but rather is a perk for those who have bought into DVC. I’m glad they decided to do this as I am one, but it’s bitter sweet as it looks as though some of the cooler aspects of the building will not be open (rainbow tunnel in particular).

I will agree with you though, this area should have been re-imagined and reopened to the public. Disney has totally underutilized this pavilion and somewhere along the lines has forgotten that the Disney company is based on imagination. If any pavilion was better suited to showing off Disney’s strengths in making dreams become reality, it’s this one. Sad to see it used as a sales pitch.

  2. This is a great idea and I too am happy to see the area again as I too visited it as a child. DVC members have requested and made suggestions and Disney is listening. This is much like being at the airport with the particular airline lounges, now DVC members will enjoy it while visiting EPCOT. I just hope it never gets over crowded but I don’t visit during the high times if I can help it because that is when it just isn’t worth it.

Like Taylor Swift says, “And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate”.

    • I should have said – At least it WON’T BE sitting and falling apart once it is converted for DVC use. Yes, it’s a shame to see the cool stuff that was up there go away, but I’d rather see areas get used for SOMETHING than just sit neglected and abandoned.

  3. Hey as a dvc member I know rooms at resorts are kept for cash paying customers first. Dvc members get a limited option. So yes a perk for us is nice. But they could have used the wonders of life pavilion instead and kept image works. So much more could be utilized in that empty building

  4. Boy, if they made ImageWorks available to DVC members only, now *THAT* would be a perk!
Unfortunately, this all makes me feel like Imagination will eventually go the way of the Wonders of Life. Seemed like a proper Imagination was on the horizon after the success of the Figment comics. However, it doesn’t look like it’s meant to be..
