VIDEO: Steven Tyler’s “Obscene Hand Gesture” Removed From Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster

Have you ever noticed that Steven Tyler’s hand in the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster pre-show video kind of looks like something that could be considered an “obscene hand gesture”? For the sake of any younger members of our audience, I won’t write the name of it here, but you likely know what I am talking about if you have been on this attraction. Well, Disney has now digitally removed the gesture after 17 years…

Here is how it used to look:

It does seem kind of odd to remove it digitally 17 years later, but enough of the world has noticed it by now. From time to time I’ve ever heard guests yell out the name of the hand gesture, so I can somewhat understand Disney’s decision to keep the attraction family friendly.

What do you think? Is it ridiculous that Disney removed it? Or was it the right decision?

  1. Horrible times we live in – a Rock ´n´ Roll singer doing an obscene gesture. What´s next? Porn on the internet?

  2. After all this time , it is ridiculous to point it out! As if Disney never did anything with hidden sexual meaning or signs in their movies ! Lion King had several as well as many others!

  3. Give me a break!! It took all of these years to figure out that they believe it’s an obscene gesture ?!? I would have never thought that, or given a second thought…I’m sure most people wouldn’t either! Oh, by the way Aerosmith is my favorite group!!! ?✌

  4. Aerosmith is awesome. Dream On, Walkin the Dog, Train Kept a Rollin, Walk this way, Sweet Emotion, the list goes on and on.

      • Nick IS tangential, snotty-nosed, insipid, smug, ill-mannered and a great big balloon knot, the list goes on. On the other hand, Jeffery’s initial comment WAS correct.

        • Sorry to inform you that your sophomoric, laconic, and inaccurate attempts at being insulting didn’t work, thanks for playing, though.

Fact is, Jeffery’s opinion was correct for Jeffery while Nick’s opinion was equally correct for Nick. I guess people like you hate when that happens but there it is.

          • Sorry to inform you that I don’t really care what you have to say, and people like me don’t play with people like you or impolite Nick without the asterisk. When you are rude in your responses, nobody wants to play with you…but I’ll bet you’ve already found that out in real life away from your keyboard, huh?
Fact is, when somebody is innocently expressing the joy they get out of anything, say a rock band for instance, and another person feels compelled to arrogantly belittle the sentiment, they are snotty-nosed, insipid, smug, ill-mannered and a great big balloon knot. So, Nick with asterisk, I will afford myself the same right to be correct that you extended to impolite Nick without the asterisk. You might hate that that happened, but there it is.

      • u need to shut up. some people (excluding you, including me) actually love their music. who cares about your opinion? also what generation do you come from?the 1820’s? irksome, antiquated? wth says that anymore?

        • You’re a little late to the party but that’s OK.
Re – “who cares about your opinion?”
Apparently that would be you since you are commenting on it.
Re – “who says that anymore?”
Same people who say “tangential”, “insipid”, and “smug”. You know, adults.

  5. What’s stupid is that the scene was filmed over 17 years ago and that hand gesture isn’t become a “thing” until just a few years ago. He wasn’t giving the hand gesture because it didn’t exist yet. He was just being eccentric old Steven Tyler.

  6. The hand gesture has as much significance/relevance today as Aerosmith does today.

And, the family friendly thing? This from the folks who keep trying to bring Michael Jackson back.

  7. At least another frail little snowflake has been appeased. Free to go forth and find the next thing to be offended about.

    • Those who go out of their way looking for something to be offended by will eventually find something offensive. Early training pays off.

    • What a b*tch, he has made gobs of money off licensing for this ride for 15+ years, he’s got nothing to complain about.

  8. Holy crap, really? I always thought he was shielding the light from his eyes so he could see the size of the crowd he had to get a limo for. Silly me for not having a dirty mind. Now that I know just how filthy this bad is, I refuse to ride RnR until they remove the song, “Love in an Elevator”. Especially, the line when he sings “going down”. OMG, my virgin ears will never be the same.
