The MagicBand 2 was introduced at the Destination D event just last month and the first retail version of the new item is slated to be released later this week in celebration of Rogue One.

All other resort guests should be able to receive  their MagicBand 2 starting next month. The widespread release of retail bands and accessories will take place in January 2017.

  1. Not sure if it’s just me, but all this time I’d thought the puck thing would just pop out with a bit of pushing, kind of like a cell-phone case. Good to see you actually need a screwdriver to remove them; kids’ll be less likely to lose them.

Will these be available by mid January 2017? Also, will they be selling both types of magic bands? Or will they eventually move 100% to this new style?

    • Jen,

Actually we just lied to you because we wanted to test and see if you were a little know it all and would tell Tom he was wrong. Congratulations Jen, you failed. Now you get nothing, nothing!

      Have a magical day!

      • Ethan,

I have a reservation for March and was hoping Disney would release the Magic Band 2 to resort guests. Do you have an update from your source? Are these still rolling out to resort guests starting January? Also, I did speak with several cast members and they don’t know a set date, but they probably don’t have that info yet.

        Thanks!
