Today is the day! Minnie Mouse was finally honored with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Positioned right outside the entrance of the famed El Capitan Theatre, she drew spectators from around the globe for this momentous event.

Having appeared in over 70 animated featurettes and theatrical shorts, Minnie Mouse is part of Disney’s legacy and universally recognized in pop-culture. We mustn’t forget that she starred alongside Mickey in the iconic 1928 short ā€œSteamboat Willieā€.

Mickey Mouse was on hand to escort his long-time beau to the podium for the ceremony, giving her a sweet kiss before leaving her in the spotlight. Walt Disney Comapny’s CEO, Bob Iger began by pointing out that this dedication was long overdue andĀ ā€œIn true Hollywood fashion, she delivered a memorable performance, but Mickey got all the creditā€. Katy Perry didn’t hesitate to echo that sentiment while reliving her fondest memories that involved Minnie over the years. “The definition of icon may fluctuate through the ages, but there’s some undeniably special characters who are iconic and I can’t think of anyone who embodies that more than my dear friend, Minerva Mouseā€, said Perry.

Minnie Mouse’s star is the 2,627th to be added to the Walk of Fame.

She now joins her boyfriend, Mickey Mouse, and her Disney pals Tinkerbell, Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, and Snow White.
