According to cast members at the resort, Disneyland Paris is planning a new nighttime show for 2019 to “replace” Disney Illuminations in the slower seasons.

The really strange part is that the show would not take place inside of a theme park at the Resort, but rather on Lake Disney in the Disney Village area.

Concept art seen by sources has drawn responses that the new show “looks like Rivers of Light with similar boats, flowers, and water projection screens, but with familiar Disney characters” taking the spotlight over wild animals. The show would have 4 viewing areas, some paid and some non-paid, with a special area reserved for Disneyland Paris annual passholders.

The idea behind the show is to draw crowds to the Disney Village and out of the parks at night so they can close earlier, all while driving more money into the entertainment district. A show without pyrotechnics is also considerably cheaper than Disney Illuminations.
