The Garlic Kissed booth returns for this year’s festival. Last year it was one of our favorite booths. How did it do this year?
Creamy Mac & Cheese with Garlic Bread Crumble, $7.00
While this was decent, it was no match for last year’s French Onion Mac & Cheese from the now-defunct Onion Lair booth. But in any case, $7.00 for a kid-size portion of standard mac and cheese with an almost flavorless garlic bread crumble is somewhat excessive.
Black Garlic Soy-Braised Pork Belly Banh Mi, $7.50
Last year we said:
If you are a pork belly fan, you’ll love this. The meat was very good, and the bun was fantastic, which we didn’t expect coming from a booth in the middle of California Adventure.
Again this year, this pork belly sandwich was a standout. Though pork belly has been somewhat overused in the past few years, this offering was a perfect cut with an amazing flavor provided by the Garlic Soy (which isn’t overpowering) and just the right, light amount of accompaniments on the petite bun.
Bloody Mary with Garlic-Stuffed Olive, $12.25
I suppose if you like Bloody Mary, you’d like this (so we were told by other Festival goers). We do not, so we struggled to drink very much of this.
