It’s a good day to be an executive at Marvel Studios as Avengers: Infinity War has likely broken the all-time US opening weekend box office record. Deadline.com reports that the previous record of $248 million, also held by Disney with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has been beaten by this superhero blockbuster at roughly $250 million (to be confirmed when actual box office numbers come in).
Avengers: Infinity War also broke the record for the highest grossing Saturday at $83 million, $13 million more than the previous record set by Jurrasic World.
Other records set by the latest Avengers movie include being the first major studio film to be recorded entirely with IMAX cameras, which expands the aspect ration by 26%.
A Quiet Place came in second and I Feel Pretty in third place, bringing in $10.65 and $8.1 million respectively.
