John Lasseter Will Be Departing The Walt Disney Company At The End of the Year

The Walt Disney Company has confirmed that John Lasseter will be departing the Walt Disney Company.

Disney has also stated that until December 31st, Lasseter will be in a consulting role at Disney. Disney has yet to confirm who will take over as Chief Creative Officer at Disney and Pixar. Sources say that Pete Docter (Inside Out) and Jennifer Lee (Frozen) are in the running to take on a larger role.

Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company said this, “John had a remarkable tenure at Pixar and Disney Animation, reinventing the animation business, taking breathtaking risks, and telling original, high quality stories that will last forever. We are profoundly grateful for his contribution, which included a masterful and remarkable turnaround of The Walt Disney Animation Studios. One of John’s greatest achievements is assembling a team of great storytellers and innovators with the vision and talent to set the standard in animation for generations to come.”

Harassments at Pixar

In November 2017, Lasseter took a leave of absence from Disney following reports of harassments toward employees at Pixar.

Earlier this year, we heard rumblings of Lasseter returning to Disney. Lasseter will be there as a consultant and depart at the end of the year.

  1. Ah so what perv or social justice warrior is Disney going to put in next. Disney is full of people like Lassiter. Disney is pushing to much on children. Just arrested a child molester that worked at Disney the other day.

  2. The red head animatronics from the Pirate rides are his severance gifts because they can maybe handle his daily abuse without breaking down. I would chase him away with a broom or hold a plate of food if he was after me

  3. Oh for crying out loud… he’s not a Weinstein… he’s a creative geek who is socially awkward and hugs and drinks too much at work events…If it were any more than that he’d not be staying on as a consultant. I worked at a major university in the 89s and 90s and put up with much worse than him…. and while the behavior I endured would not be acceptable today, I could make a distinction between an overly affectionate oldster and a creepy lecher…I think the comments here are why this whole new culture of immediately labeling people with broad brushes is very dangerous.
