What’s a new cupcake and why does it, what’s the word… sparkle? Well, a new cupcake has appeared at the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery; this time taking shape as a mermaid tail splashing back into the ocean. How many wonders can one cupcake hold? A lot it seems, as there’s quite a bit going on here.
Mermaid Cupcake – $5.99
It’s a funfetti cupcake, yay! We love funfetti and this certainly takes the cake, erm.. cupcake. The buttercream icing would have been great ice cold, but it was rather melted by the time we were able to dig in. If you buy one of these, we recommend eating it rather quick, especially in the hot Florida sun. Ironically, the best part of the cupcake wasn’t even the cupcake, it was the mermaid tail cookie on top. It was perfectly soft and melts in your mouth. It’s absolutely wonderful.
Cold Foam Ice Cappuccino – $4.79/tall
We also tried one of the new Starbucks beverages for the summer, the cold foam iced cappuccino. This was not only a really good coffee, but had a very unique lid. We haven’t seen Starbucks use lids like these in the past, but it was fun to drink from and can’t wait to see them use this in more beverages moving forward.

Previously, we told you that the Unicorn Cupcake was available all June and today we found out that was not the case. The cupcake was available this past weekend for the annual Gay Days celebration and has since been discontinued. Fortunately, the Confectionery has a pride cupcake that is available all month long.
Will the mermaid cupcake be available all summer?
Never too sure with these treats, I would get it sooner rather than later.
Hmm….there is a bakery in Calif that has had this cupcake for months. They originated it.
Starbucks has been using that lid for cold foam drinks. They are not new.
