The Funnel Cake kiosk at The American Adventure at Epcot debuted a new offering today for the start of the 2018 Epcot Food & Wine Festival.
The funnel cake is made with the standard funnel cake batter – no special ingredients are added to the batter. It is then topped with the obligatory powdered sugar before the addition of maple ice cream and candied bacon.
It’s a sizable slab of maple ice cream that’s absolutely awesome. Not overpowering, but just a really good flavor of ice cream. There’s enough candied bacon on top to make anyone happy; the cast member kept pouring more on until everything was covered. We don’t often get funnel cakes from here but this one was freshly made, so it was fantastic. The ice cream is put on top after the cake is pulled from the fryer, so it begins to melt as it hits the hot funnel cake, giving a nice and creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is quite the treat for anyone who likes maple or bacon, or both! It’s honestly one of the best tasting and unique dessert items at the festival.
The little smiling strawberry is for “Kid-Friendly” options. :) Though a gigantic maple bacon funnel cake for a kid seems aggressive!
The strawberry means it’s kid approved. It’s right in the festival booklet.

Maple & Bacon??? That screams “Canadian Pavilion!”
