Jump for joy (and maybe flatten an uppercase “I”), Pixar fans! At long last, Luxo Jr. has made his debut at the entrance to Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure.
The lamp, best known for its appearance at the beginning of every Pixar film, wasn’t ready when Pixar Pier opened back in June. Now, four months later, Luxo Jr. is ready to welcome guests to the area (and perhaps beckon them to the nearby Lamplight Lounge). We also have video of how the audio-animatronic performs.
Fans may recall this isn’t the first time Luxo Jr. has had an animatronic likeness. The character appeared for a time near the entrance to Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, but has since been removed.
Disney Parks Blog provided a look at how Luxo Jr. will look at night. It may not provide a lot of illumination, but it fits in perfectly with the stylized glow of Pixar Pier in the evening.
So the next time you visit Disney California Adventure, be sure to keep an eye out for Pixar’s trusty icon!
