Disney Animation and Theme Park Art Featured in Heritage Auction

Heritage Auctions Signature Animation Art Auction, featuring original art from Disney productions ranging from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio to more recent classics like The Little Mermaid and The Incredibles, will take place December 8th in Beverly Hills, California.

The auction boasts over six hundred items from across Disney’s history, including art by Disney Legends Mary Blair, Walt Peregoy, and Marc Davis. According to Heritage Auctions, this is one of the single largest collections of Blair’s art to be auctioned to date, with many items coming directly from the Mary Blair Family Trust. Concept art, animation cels, sketches, and more will be auctioned off, including art from Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons and Steamboat Willie.

Parks fans will have the chance to bid on original parks art including one of Davis’ original “stretching portraits” from the Haunted Mansion, props and concept art from it’s a small world, and prototype tile display art from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. In addition, original Disneyland park posters from attractions like Adventure Thru Inner Space, the Skyway, the Peoplemover, Rainbow Caverns Mine Train, and more will go under the gavel.

Beyond that, many original illustrations from Disney books, concept model art, and character model art from Epic Mickey, as well as animation cels from Disney’s television programs including Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color,  The Mickey Mouse Club,  DuckTales and The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and even a Mousecar (the precursor to the Disney Legend honors) are also being offered. For those whose interests range beyond the Mouse House, artwork from various Hanna-Barbera and Jay Ward productions, including The Flintstones and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, and items from the collection of legendary voice actress June Foray are also being offered.

Proxy bids are currently being accepted online at the Heritage Auctions website ahead of the December 8th live auction. Whether it’s film, television, or theme parks, there’s plenty for Disney fans to enjoy at this auction.
