Reopening Date Set for Tomorrowland Speedway in 2019 at Magic Kingdom

In preparation for the new Tron roller coaster coming to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, Tomorrowland Speedway will close for a refurbishment after the first of the year, on January 2, 2019. We now know just how long that refurbishment will take.

On May 18, 2019, the Speedway is scheduled to reopen, most likely with an altered track layout that will accommodate the Tron roller coaster that will be built next to and over it.

  1. i would hope that they switch to electric karts instead of those exhaust spewing relics of yesteryear. Not very tomorrowland currently.

  2. Isn’t it about time for the Speedway to close for good or maybe be majorly overhauled? The go karts can’t steer worth a damn, the exhaust fumes are horrible (while you’re in line too) and the track is really short. I say close the whole thing down or at the very least replace the go karts with environmentally friendly electric ones.

  3. Hey! Don’t try to fix or update it. The noisy, smelly hard to steer cars “are the ride!” Just rejuvenate the ride with the nostalgic ambiance.
