“Magic of Star Wars” Toy Series Brings Classic Star Wars Stories to Younger Audiences

Lucasfilm recently announced Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures, a new animated web series for younger fans of the franchise. To continue this new effort of bringing the Star Wars franchise to newer audiences, Hasbro and Lucasfilm have created the Magic of Star Wars toy line.

Sarah Carroll, senior brand marketing manager of Star Wars at Hasbro told StarWars.com, “Our Galaxy of Adventures line is a great entry point for kids to get into Star Wars. The product focuses on the key, iconic moments in the Star Wars storyline in a fun, kid-friendly way.”

The 3.75-inch figures come in cylindrical packages with comic-inspired art on the front. Rather than label each figure as the specific character inside, the packaging names the character based on their role in the series. For example, Darth Vader comes labeled as “The Villain” and R2-D2 comes with the title “The Astromech.” Each figure also comes with a mini-comic that tells an abbreviated version of a significant story pertaining to the included character. “Comics are a great way to bring those key scenes from Star Wars to kids in an easy, digestible way,” says Carroll.

For more context and information, each package includes a QR code that will link customers to additional content via the web.

Wave one is already out now at Wal-Mart for $9.99 each, and includes Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and R2-D2. Wave two releases sometime in spring 2019 and includes Princess Leia, Yoda, an Imperial Stormtrooper, and Han Solo.

“As we head into 2019, what better time to introduce kids to this incredible franchise and these classic characters than now? And let’s be honest, what kid isn’t going to fall in love with these droids, creatures, and rebels? Star Wars is truly a brand with something for everyone, and we’re excited for the new Galaxy of Adventures animated shorts and toys, which provide that entry point for new, young fans,” says Carroll.

Lucasfilm and Hasbro sure are making it clear that the Galaxy of Adventures series is intended for kids, but let’s be honest, tons of adult Star Wars fans are going to be all over these toys.
