Disneyland Park has a brand new Mickey Birthday Churro as part of Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration. This is a warm churro with birthday-cake flavored sugar, and for “just” $1.00 more, you can get a tiny tub of confetti dipping sauce. Disneyland should just be called Churroland at this point. But how does Mickey’s very own birthday churro taste? Let’s blow out the candles and dig in.
The churro is available at the Churro Cart near Sleeping Beauty Castle and costs $5.25, or $6.25 with a side of dipping sauce.
The birthday cake sugar is red and glittery, and the dipping sauce comes topped with a dash of colorful sprinkles, but none actually mixed in.
A quick word of warning before we get further into this review. The red sugar on this churro gets everywhere. We’re talking hands, fingers, mouths. It’ll all be stained before you’re finished and won’t wash off easy. This is definitely one of the messier churros we’ve had, just from the shedding of the sugar.
The marshmallow dip is fairly sticky, but tastes good. We couldn’t really taste the sprinkles, and they didn’t really mix well with the marshmallow.
As far as flavor goes, it tastes pretty much like a regular churro. Overall, this churro takes a nice photo, but we can’t recommend wasting money on what otherwise tastes like a non-specialty churro.
With churro options ranging from Chocolate Peanut Butter to Banana Pudding, there are far more interesting flavors out there, for about the same price.
