“Dumbo” Takes The Number One Spot At The Box Office, But Debuts With A Disappointing $45 Million

“Dumbo” may have become the king of the box office this past weekend, but it fell short of the projected box office of $60 million or more that some analysts had predicted.

“Dumbo” brought in an estimated $45 million domestically and $71 million internationally, resulting in a worldwide box office total of $116 million.

The movie had a budget of $170 million, which does not include marketing for the film, which is usually close to the same amount as the budget.

“Dumbo” will probably lose its number one spot next weekend to “Shazam” when that movie opens in theaters. One good thing is that the only other family-oriented movie that Dumbo will be competing against in the upcoming weeks will be “Missing Link”, which opens April 11th.
