PHOTOS: Toydarian Toymaker, Creature Stall, and Black Spire Outfitters Items Previewed for Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge at Celebration Chicago
Star Wars Celebration Chicago continues to display new and exciting details about Galaxy’s Edge for when it opens this year. Displayed at the event on Saturday were some of the new toy and collectable merchandise that will be available for purchase at the three merchandise locations in Galaxy’s Edge; the Toydarian Toymaker, the Creature Stall, and Black Spire Outfitters. Previously on display were the various clothing and accessory items to be made available for purchase, now let’s take a look at some of the fun and exciting toys, creatures, and collectables that we will see in just a few months time.
Let’s start with the Toydarian Toymaker items. There are various wooden figures on display for purchase.
There are also tin collectible toys, some of which are our favorite ships and speeders found within the galaxy.
A wooden Dejarik Board Game. Think of it as a non-hologram version of the game played famously on the Millennium Falcon.
A label for this product wasn’t available, but I would assume it is a card game container or perhaps a place to store dice for other games.
Here are some of the tiles for the matching game shown above. This is the famous card game that was played between Han and Lando which eventually was the key factor in Han taking ownership of the prized ship, the Millennium Falcon. This game is also referenced in the novel “Bloodline” by Claudia Grey. In the story, it is noted that Han has taught Leia the finer points of the game and it works in her favor against a nemesis at one point early in the novel.
On the left is a water fan mister based on the moisture vaporators referenced in many of the movie installments. On the right is a wooden stormtrooper doll that is the same one referenced in Rogue One. Young Jyn Erso is carrying it in the first few moments of the film.In the center of of this display are the musical instruments used by the famous Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes Cantina Band. These items do actually play portions of those famous Cantina songs!
Next up, the Creature Stall items. I’d have to say these were some of my favorites of all the merchandise shown so far.
Here we have the infamous Salacious Crumb of Return of the Jedi. The species is called the Kowakian Monkey-Lizard. This creature acts much like the banshees do in Pandora over at Animal Kingdom. They even have the laughing sound that is so famously heard in the film. The monkey-lizard will also be available in blue as shown below. The blue Kowakian Monkey-Lizard.
Plush dolls were on display also.
Porgs! This item is much like a puppet in that the mouth and wings move. I must say they are very adorable! These Rathtars vibrate and move. The Rock Wart on the left darts his tongue out when pressed. The Tauntaun has sculpted horns and has a pet feature that activates sounds.Bad hair day?
This is the Puffer Pig from Star Wars Rebels. He oinks when squeezed. Too cute!
And finally, we saw a few more items of clothing from the Black Spire Outfitters.
All of these items will be sold in the three merchandise locations only and prices are still being worked on at this time. Start saving those pennies!
