There are new gourmet cotton candy flavors available at Goofy’s Candy Co. in Disney Springs, and of course, we had to bring you the weirdest flavor of all: Sweet Mesquite.

They have other new flavors available, like Root Beer, Sour Apple, Strawberry Banana, and Key Lime.

Truth be told, we got the Key Lime cotton candy just in case the Sweet Mesquite turned out to be a bit much. It’s good to have backup emergency cotton candy.

So, as it turns out, eating Sweet Mesquite cotton candy is basically like eating a smokey barbecue chip. Our reporters likened the taste to… charcoal fumes? Yeah, that’s how smokey the flavor is. However, despite all that, it’s still pretty good. In the spirit of Disney Springs, it tastes like you’ve had a full dinner at The Polite Pig and then topped it off with cotton candy for dessert. The sweetness compliments the smokiness, but the cotton candy still has a strange, yet appetizing savory element to it.

If you’re curious, the Key Lime flavor tastes delicious, like the Peter Pan Dole Whip float from Storybook Treats, or a Sprite. Have one of each and you have lunch and a beverage in spun sugar form. Each wand of cotton candy costs $5.99, with gourmet flavors as seasonal offerings.
