Same name, new drink, who dis? While traveling to the moon of Pandora today, I headed to Pongu Pongu Refreshments with the intention of picking up a Pongu Lumpia (one of my favorite guilty pleasure Disney Park treats), and I noticed that the Mo’ara Margarita had gotten a makeover.
Since the opening of the land, the Mo’ara Margarita had been strawberry and blood orange flavored, topped with strawberry boba balls, and it was red in color.
The new recipe only keeps one ingredient in common with its predecessor; the tequila. The drink is now bright blue in color, flavored with lime juice, and topped with the same passion fruit boba balls that come floated on top of the Night Blossom.
Now let’s get to the taste, and spoiler alert: it was not good. Well, if you just like the taste of straight up tequila, then you might have a different opinion than me, because tequila was ALL that I tasted. This drink was definitely strong.
I did like the passion fruit boba balls on top, and with these being the same ingredient used on top of the Night Blossom, I can imagine it does make it easier on the Cast Members only having the one boba flavor. I love the new colors of the drink as well, I think it looks really in theme with the color scheme of the land overall. But if the color change is one of the only things I can compliment on a food item, that probably doesn’t bode well.
If you want to try this drink for yourself, you can find it at Pongu Pongu Refreshments in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, priced at $11.25.
Yes, tequila! I’m there. A taco walks into a bar. The bartender says, “we don’t serve tacos here!” The taco replies, “that’s okay, I just came in for a margarita.”
