As part of a full slate of Fourth of July specialty foods and beverages announced today, the limited-time “It’s a Party” Sundae debuted today at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom, and we… we just can’t resist a good party.

Limited-Time “It’s a Party” Sundae – $7.99

Disney describes the sundae as red velvet cake topped with birthday cake ice cream, vanilla sauce, raspberry sauce, whipped cream, a cherry, and red, white, and blue sprinkles. The whole ensemble is served inside a waffle bowl for $7.99.

This is one of those times Disney really came through on presentation. Just look at that heaping mound of ice cream and whipped cream! I’m a sucker for themed sprinkles, too.

A salute to most ice cream flavors, but mostly Birthday Cake ice cream.

It’s worth noting that they were either very generous with the ice cream scoops today, or we definitely got two scoops. The photo on the placard shows only one scoop of ice cream on there, so your ice cream mileage may vary.

While they were generous on the ice cream, we could barely taste the raspberry and vanilla syrups (I know, us complaining about not enough syrup when it’s usually the opposite… but in this case we really would’ve wanted more.) It looked like they went really light on them, considering the giant mound of ice cream we got. The cake was pleasantly more moist than your average Disney cupcake, with a good, strong red velvet flavor. (Do be warned that the coloring in the cake will stain fingers and hands.)

All in all, we’ll definitely be back sometime this month for another one of these sundaes. For the price, you get a ton of ice cream and cake that can easily be shared amongst a group, so long as you eat it fast enough (before it turns into a swampy puddle of ice cream and cake.) It’s a cute treat for the Fourth of July, too, so definitely pick one of these sprinkle-studded beauties for a solid Instagram post.
