It’s been a minute since we brought you guys any new UGears sets from the parks, but all that’s about to change with this new Disney Parks mechanical model of a castle. (They want to sell it on both coasts, so it isn’t particular to Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty Castle, but I digress.)
In case you’re unfamiliar with the UGears brand, it was launched back in 2014 in Ukraine. UGears specializes in creating wooden 3D mechanical models that portray their real-life prototypes. These models can be built without tools or glue, and never require batteries! The set features 855 pieces, and probably the most interesting part of all is that the castle actually opens up with just the turn of a turret. Check out the set in full detail below:
Disney Parks Castle Wooden Mechanical Model Set by UGears – $149.99
The 855 piece model features the following gear-driven movements: an opening gate, a lifting grate, and a raising spire that reveals a secret room on the second floor.
Further details on the box indicate that counter-clockwise rotation of the turret opens the gate, lifts the grate, and opens the spire of the tower.
It appears the rest of the turrets also spin, although they don’t cause any other movement along the castle.
You can find the wooden mechanical model set at Big Top Souvenirs in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom for $149.99.
I saw that this was up for sale at D23 this year, a few people were trying to sell the opportunity have them buy it for you on ebay. But I haven’t been able to get any confirmation from Disney or Ugears as to how much of a wider release this is going to get. Will this be sold in their online store eventually?
I have their Walter E. Disney train and it is gorgeous and a ton of fun to put together!
