PHOTOS: New Platform Gates Being Installed on Tokyo Disney Resort’s Disney Resort Monorail Line

Most of our Tokyo news concerns what goes on inside of our two incredible parks. But we tend to overlook the Disney Resort Line, which is our (unfortunately) paid monorail. However, last night at Resort Gateway Station, we caught what appears to be a halfway complete installation of brighter platform gates to replace the rather utilitarian gates that have been in place since the Resort Line opened in 2001.

In the foreground is the newer, brighter gates with windows. These windows will allow better views of the wraps that tend to cover the line’s trains. In the background are the stainless steel gates that have been in place for 18 years. The new gates are only installed on the arrivals side, not the departures side.

I love these, to be honest! It brightens up the platform a bit, and will allow better views of the wraps while the monorail is at the station.

Right behind these gates appears to be the other set of gates for the departure-side platform.

Here, we can see the old gates on the departure-side platform. While these are fine, they are rather drab compared to the bright doors on the other side. I’ll be pleased to see this change implemented in full. What are your thoughts? Let us know below or on Twitter!
