REVIEW: New Caramel Apple Verrine Brings Holiday Cheer to Catalina Eddie’s at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Caramel and apples: it’s a combination that goes as well together as the holidays and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This holiday season, Catalina Eddie’s pays tribute to this dynamic duo with a Caramel Apple Verrine. Let’s see how well they pair together here!
Caramel Apple Verrine – $4.99
The dessert’s layers start with chocolate mousse on the bottom, followed by delicious tart apple pie filling, vanilla mousse with crispy chocolate bits, all topped with a thick caramel sauce and a white chocolate square featuring Mickey and Minnie.
The dessert has a nice sweet and tart pairing due to the Granny Smith apples in the pie filling. The fruit in the dessert lightens it up, but it stays rich enough to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. We also enjoyed the textures of the Carmel Apple Verrine. The mousses and caramel sauce give it a smooth creaminess, while the apple chunks and chocolate give it a crunch.
The mousses are the standard kind found throughout Walt Disney World. The chocolate flavor is milk chocolate, while the vanilla tastes more like a sweet cream rather than true vanilla. The chocolate pearls are milk chocolate as well. The dessert really captures all of the flavors of a classic Disney caramel apple, but in a smaller and tidier form. It’s a refreshing take on a dessert and breaks up the monotony of the many chocolatey desserts found throughout the park. We will definitely be grabbing this dessert again!
