The curtain has been raised on the holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and ABC Commissary is getting in on the fun with several items, including a Strawberry Mint Verrine, Mickey’s Santa Hat Chocolate Mousse, and a Winterberry Margarita! But should these items be picked up or canceled? Let’s find out!
Strawberry Mint Verrine – $4.99
This was a definite favorite. The light mousse on top has a slight mint flavor, and beneath the mousse is a shortcake topped with sweetened, syrupy strawberries. The toppings here are also adorable, with milk chocolate character pieces and and milk chocolate covered crispy pearls.
This item is also available at Pizzerizzo.
Mickey’s Santa Hat Chocolate Mousse – $5.99
The Mickey Santa Hat is essentially creamy chocolate mousse on a vanilla wafer. The actual Mickey ears are milk chocolate, and the Santa hat topper is white chocolate. The white hat edge has almost a gummy-like consistency to it.
The milk chocolate mousse on the inside is very creamy… although that might’ve been because it was slightly melted. The red gel layer had no real flavor and wasjust decorative. It’s a pretty rich dessert, but good if you like a lot of chocolate.
Holiday Wreath Cookie – $5.99
This is a holiday wreath turned snickerdoodle! The marshmallow fluff filling tastes straight out of the jar, which is a disappointment over freshly melted marshmallow.. The decorations are made of royal icing, and the cookie is topped with a chocolate candy cane dusted in edible gold glitter.
Overall, the cookie was pretty good, but at $6, we aren’t sure we’d get it again.
Winterberry Margarita (Silver Patrón Tequila, Triple Sec, Sweet-and-Sour, Cranberry Juice and Wildberry Syrup) – $17.00
The alcohol options continue to be pre-made garbage. Overly sweet and totally unenjoyable, the Winterberry Margaraita should be on no-one’s agenda. It was so sweet that I couldn’t really even distinguish any special flavor, so I don’t really know what else to say. This item is also available at Pizzerizzo and Rosie’s All-American Cafe.
