If you haven’t had any luck getting a Boarding Group for the popular Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a new set of “Backup” options have just been released at the park.

New flyers were handed out to guests this morning advertising Backup Boarding Groups.

Once initial Boarding Group distribution for Rise of the Resistance reaches capacity today, guests can now join a backup Boarding Group that will only be called if all of the initial boarding groups have been called back and there is capacity for more riders in the evening time.
On your My Disney Experience Virtual Queue status page, you’ll see “See Below” under “Estimated Wait:”. You can then join a Backup Boarding Group by following the on-screen prompts. Do make sure your notifications are on for the My Disney Experience app as that is how you will be notified that Backup Boarding Groups have been opened up.
As always, capacity is limited and given that Backup Boarding Groups may not even open up, an early arrival of no later than 6:00 – 6:30 AM is highly recommended.
Would you still need to remain in DHS all day even in a backup group?
HS just needs to be open 24/7, that would be awesome!!!
If you are a single rider do you have a better chance to get in a boarding group in the morning?
Just another way to be disappointed
