As preparations for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary are underway, the Magic Kingdom park is getting a full entry enhancement aimed at streamlining the entry process and beautifying the space. Several construction projects are happening at the same time and we thought we’d give an update on each of them today.
The green construction walls by the Ferry Boat dock have been pushed back some to reveal smooth concrete. Here you can see a construction crew member touching up some of the concrete.
The new security checkpoint (behind those same walls) for guests arriving via Disney bus has made significant progress! Metal framing, building wrap, plywood, and metal sheets have all been added to the structure. These update have really rounded out the building and we have a better idea of what it will look like when finished.
By the Red, Green, and Gold Resort Boat docks, we can see that the dirt in the area has been leveled out and sections of wood and rebar frames are being placed in the ground. This area will become two new docks for the Resort Boats.
From the monorail we could look down at the Magic Kingdom entrance and see progress on the two new planters that are being added. The shapes for the planters have been marked out with concrete and large sections of surrounding pink concrete have been laid around them.
Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, a new walkway with a pedestrian bridge is currently under construction. The bridge is in place on its rotary and pieces of the walkway are taking shape.
Lamp posts have been placed along a winding path marked out by removed grass and flattened dirt, which meets a section of concrete further to the left.
A massive pile of what appears to be Walk Around the World personalized bricks sit to the side, discarded.
As work on each of these projects moves along we will be sure to keep an eye on them and give updates along the way. Check back with WDW News Today soon for the next look at Magic Kingdom’s new entrance.
