If you’ve been following the saga of the official grand opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to the general public this morning, then you’re probably aware of the parking delays, boarding group activation, and of course, the lucky first ride evac. That’s right, we were among the very first guests to experience the state-of-the-art attraction when it opened this morning, but the ride broke down near the end, and we were evacuated off of the attraction. Others were not as lucky and had to be evacuated from even earlier segments of the attraction, like the pre-show. Take a look at our photo tour of the queue and some of the pre-show, and watch as we walk out of the ride unscathed after a long evacuation in the video below:
If you’re wondering what happens if the ride breaks down on you during your adventure, the Resistance has you covered with paper FastPasses to re-enter the ride:
After getting evacuated from #RiseOfTheResistance we were given a paper fastpass to return later today. #DHS #WDW pic.twitter.com/wVfLpQ7ri6

Wow Kylo came out and asked everyone to stay calm & Exit!! , thats very impressive
Some of my favorite ride experiences have been on Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion when the rides broke down, but they were able to get them running again without having to leave the ride. You really get to see some great details while you sit there waiting! That said, it would be disappointing to have to leave the ride and come back later.
I’m sure Disney will get the kinks worked out. I understand the excitement of being one of the first to ride a new attraction, but I think about it like when a new restaurant opens – you want to give them some time to work out the quirks, and to let the opening crowds cool down. I’ll be perfectly happy visiting Galaxy’s Edge for the first time in about a year!
Its amazing how they finally allow you to take videos!
