A new dessert has rocketed into Galactic Grill in Disneyland, identifiable by the dazzling trail of glitter it has left on its path. We had to go and check it out!
Remember that dreamy Darth By Chocolate dessert they used to have in that location? Well, we have found that that has gone and this has arrived in its place: the Galactic Parfait! As you can see from first glance, there’s a lot going on in this dessert. Let’s have a try, shall we?
From the menu listing, the Galactic Parfait is described as being made up of layers of chocolate cake, blue cheesecake, and purple mouse, filled with a raspberry marmalade. Don’t mind if we do.
Upon taking a closer look, you’ll see that this dessert is highly attractive, and will definitely be one for Instagram. The top is a deep, galaxy purple, sprinkled with a lot of starry glitter and edible confetti, with some blue planets randomly scattered too.
The clear cup container allows us to see the attractive looking layers of mousse, cake and cheesecake.
You can tell there’s a lot of creamy food coloring going on here. Cue alarm bells ringing in the distance! More on that later, for now, let’s tuck in!
The flavor of this dessert was fine, however the mix of cake, mousse, and cheesecake was always bound to be a bit too far on the sweet side. The taste was, as advertised, chocolate and berry, however identifying said berry as raspberry would be a bit of a stretch.
Glitter, glitter everywhere!
While the composition of a parfait should naturally offers different textures, we did feel like something was lacking here. It just seemed a bit mushy and similar, where the three main components could have stood out from each other more, and made it more interesting. Perhaps a bit of crunch would have skyrocketed this dessert a bit higher?
The pearls on top added a tiny bit of crisp to the dessert, and the large planet was just a simple, hollow chocolate.
Possibly the most pressing issue here is the sheer mess this dessert makes. Not only were fingers and tongues stained purple, but glitter was everywhere. So bear that in mind as a negative, unless you’re one of those Pixie Dust types who would not be fazed by the all the shimmery mess!
All in all, we’d recommend this one for the Instagrammers, the sparkly, and those not looking for something too special. We’d much rather see the return of the Darth by Chocolate, so if you see any petitions orbiting, do let us know!
Will you be taking off to Tomorrowland to try this new treat?
