The 2020 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival offers some pretty unique offerings, but sometimes, you just want some ice cream. With this treat, Salt & Straw promises an ice cream sure to taste like a cheddary cheesecake with a blend of warm apple pie ice cream.
We can say that we were very taken with how cute this treat is. The ice cream carton with the little spoons inside the lids brings us back to our childhoods.
Have you ever seen anything so beautiful? I swear, there’s nothing like taking off the lid to a fresh carton of ice cream. It looks so appetizing, how can you not dig a spoon in immediately?
This apple ice cream was extremely smooth, with a strong apple taste that was not overbearing. It had a sharp cheddar flavor with a nice hint of apple. None of it was too sweet, and was very balanced.
Though, that’s not to say this dish was a complete winner. We found ourselves wishing there were some sort of mix-ins to break up the texture. We also found the ice cream to be on the more expensive side, at $6.25. For that price, you may want to stick with just getting a regular scoop of ice cream. For the record, we did sample the new Wild-foraged Berry Pie and Salted Caramel Cupcake flavors that Salt & Straw has to offer, and found those to be delicious.
