Bright Suns from another very hot day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! It was a quiet day today compared to yesterday’s excitement with the appearance of the Onward popcorn bucket, but we still had a good time and took a good look at some wait times. Let’s get started!
First thing in the morning, as everyone who came into the park rushed to their first ride of the day, we noticed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster stayed at a “walk-on” wait time until almost 10 am.
The same was true for Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which stayed at “walk-on” until almost 10 am as well. Usually, these two rides are among the rides that guests make their way to first thing in the morning, but it seems that most people chose other rides this morning.
A lot of guests chose Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway as their first ride of the day, which had an 80-minute wait by 9:45 am.
We got an early boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and are happy to report that everything was functional, and the ride was free of the technical issues we experienced yesterday. It was nice to experience this impressive attraction in its full glory!
After the first batch of Boarding Groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance were distributed at 10 am, guests relaxed and moved onto the next, or their first, ride of the day, and wait times rose accordingly. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was a 40-minute wait around 10:30 am, and the line wrapped around the square, and down past Oga’s Cantina.
In Toy Story Land, Slinky Dog Dash was a 40-minute wait and the line stretched down almost the whole length of the attraction.
Toy Story Mania! was a 15-minute wait, but the line wrapped around the corner and out of the entrance of the land itself.
At the Trolley Car Cafe, Starbucks has deemed that it is officially Fall and has brought back the “PSL” or Pumpkin Spice Latte, along with everything else Pumpkin Spice flavored. Although they’re a little late to the party, as Joffrey’s brought back their Pumpkin flavored offerings about two weeks ago, we’re just happy to see it back. Along with the Pumpkin flavoring, Salted Caramel is available as a fall flavor as well.
There are fall treats in the cold case as well, in case you need something to munch on with your “PSL.” There is a Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, a Pumpkin Scone, and, our personal favorite, a cake pop decorated to look like a fox.
Around midday Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance went down due to Technical Difficulties. It came back up with enough time before the 2 pm Boarding Group distribution, to almost get back on track with where it usually is around that time of day.
Around 1:30 pm, lines were at their longest. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was still a 45-minute wait, but the line stretched all the way back to the corner of First Order Cargo.
In Toy Story Land, Slinky Dog Dash was the opposite: it had the same wait time of 40 minutes, but the line was significantly shorter, with the end almost on the bridge and within sight of the entrance to the attraction.
It was the same story at Toy Story Mania! where the wait time was the same, but the line was nowhere to be seen, with guests walking straight into the attraction.
The concession cart next to Voyage of The Little Mermaid was removed today. It had not been open since the park reopened, as so many of these smaller stands have remained closed across the parks.
The ice cream portion of it was relocated next to the Animation Courtyard arch, but it was not open today.
Yesterday, we spotted a few of the popular Sorcerer Mickey Ink & Paint Loungefly mini backpacks had appeared at the Five & Dime in the Ink & Paint section and were there most of the day. Today they were gone, much to our chagrin. We were hoping they had enough stock of them that they would be around for a little while, but it appears not.
We had a great day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
How the heck do you get a borading pass for Rise of the Resistance when the passes are all gone within seconds of the opening times?? W’re in our 70s and aren’t that quick with our smart phones. Are there some hints you can pass along?
Open the app about 20 to 15 minutes before start. Then click the join button under the virtual cue. Keep refreshing the page by pulling down and letting go or how ever your phone refresh works until you can join a boarding group. I was given a hint to use my mobile internet instead of wifi. Also helps if you have a newer phone. Just be in the app before 10 or 2.
