“The Mandalorian” Earns First Emmy Win for Disney+

This is the way... to a first Emmy award for Disney+.

The Mandalorian picked up the first Emmy for the freshman streaming service, winning for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. “Chapter 2: The Child” took home the win.

Disney+ programming is nominated for 19 Emmys this year, including 15 for The Mandalorian.

Other Disney+ nominees include Angela Bassett’s narration on The Imagineering Story, The World According to Jeff Goldblum (Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special), A Celebration Of The ws Music From Coco (Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling For a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program), and Forky Asks a Question: What is Love? (Outstanding Short Form Animated Program).

Creative awards are announced Sep. 16, 2020. The 72nd Emmy Awards airs live on ABC Sunday, Sep. 20, 2020. Jimmy Kimmel hosts the ceremony.
