Permits Filed for Phase II of World Drive Roadwork at Walt Disney World

The investment into the infrastructure of Walt Disney World continues, with permits filed recently for Phase II of the massive World Drive roadwork project.

According to the permit, “The project is the Phase 2 extension and realignment of World Drive and the associated ramps and frontage roads. Phase 2 of the World Drive extension will begin where Phase 1 ends near Floridian Way and east of the existing care care center. The end of Phase 2 ties in to Floridian Way approximately 800 feet south of Seven Seas Drive. The total project length is approximately 1.3 miles.”

The project as a whole involves the realignment and reconstruction of northbound and southbound World Drive with various bridges and flyovers built. The project also includes widening existing World Drive, new ramps connecting World Drive and Bear Island Road, and ramps connecting Magic Kingdom parking road to the Car Care Center.

Floridian Way Rebuild

Currently, northbound World Drive is scheduled to be closed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM through September 10. These road improvements will ultimately allow drivers to get to their destination much faster.
