The original Mickey Mouse Club lost a member this week. Bonni Lou Kern, an original Mouseketeer, died September 28 in Wooster, Ohio. She was 79 years old.
Kern died of natural causes, according to the Wayne County Health Department.
The Mickey Mouse Club first aired from 1955 to 1958 with over 180 episodes. After her initial appearance in The Mickey Mouse Club, Kern went on to be in The Wonder Mouseketeer and later starred in Save the Wonder Mouseketeers.
Kern received the Mousecar, the highest award given by The Walt Disney Company, and was also given the key to Fantasyland.
She is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions to be made to the COPD Foundation in Miami.
