California State Officials Visiting Disneyland Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood to Review and Finalize Reopening Plans

After months of delays and indecision, it seems the pieces are finally falling into place for an imminent Disneyland reopening. Earlier today, it was announced that 11 unions reached return-to-work agreements with Disneyland. Now, state officials are visiting Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood this week to review, and ultimately finalize reopening plans.

From The Orange County Register:

State officials are visiting Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier this week, according to California Health and Human Services Agency spokesperson Kate Folmar.

The delegation includes representatives from the California Department of Public Health, California Division of Occupational Safety and Health and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.

California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly yesterday reiterated that reopening dates and guidelines for theme parks “will come out when we’re ready.” While they seem to be taking their time in carrying out “stubborn research” both in California as well as in Central Florida, it’s good to see progress finally taking place.

Orange County remains under the Red “Substantial” Tier of COVID-19 rates in California. A reopening would only be possible under the Orange “Moderate” or Yellow “Minimal” tiers, so even if plans are finalized, that would still not be indicative of a reopening date.
