PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 10/7/20 (Toll Plaza Painting Update, Deep Merchandise Discounts, Tom Sawyer Island Refurbishment, and More)
Hello from another hot day here at the Magic Kingdom! We imagined a chill in the air as we strolled down Main Street, USA and gazed lovingly at the Mickey pumpkins in their Fall foliage. We found some fun new things here today, so let’s get started!
We started off the day by getting a good look at the repainting of the Magic Kingdom toll plaza. Normally we like to be right at the front of the line so we can bring you all the latest news first, but today we hung back so we could take a good look at the progress being made. We noticed lots of changes, like the flags being painted gold, and the end booth has been painted grey.
As we got closer we were able to see a light, uneven coat of purple on one of the letters. We wonder what this will look like when it’s finished!
When we got to the park, the tapstiles were not being used to scan guests into the park. Instead, Cast Members with iPads were scanning MagicBands or cards, and checking IDs or electronic tickets as necessary.
We checked in on merchandise in the shops along Main Street, USA and found some interesting things. First of all, the popular Dooney & Bourke handbags featuring the Disney Dogs print were in full stock at Uptown Jewelers, including the MagicBand. We love the little backpack!
At the Emporium we found this new subtle tie dye olive Spirit Jersey. It retails for $69.99.
We also found a whole line of boxers, boxer briefs, and lounge pants featuring icons from some of our favorite Disney and Pixar films. This was our favorite pair, and features Kevin from the movie Up. You can take a look at the whole collection here.
We found two new sales going on in Walt Disney World. This Youth Tutu Set, regularly $59.99, is now on sale for $30.00.
This Dated “Sparkle Headband” or Minnie ear headband, regularly $29.99, is on sale for $15.00, plus is Buy One, Get One Free. Don’t forget, your regular discounts also apply to these sales, so Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders can stack their discounts on top of these sales.

All of the NBA merchandise has been removed from the Emporium and has been replaced with Halloween and Park Life merchandise. With the Disney Character Warehouse reopened, we wonder if that line will show up there soon.
Two locations that recently reopened were found closed again today—Friar’s Nook and the Spring Roll Cart in Adventureland. Both locations are going to be open on weekends only from now on.
Tom Sawyer Island has closed for a planned refurbishment, along with the Liberty Square Riverboat. We found the area that leads down to the docks blocked off today with construction walls.
The load zone for the Riverboat was blocked off as well. The refurbishment is planned to last three months.
We checked in on the construction progress on TRON Lightcycle / Run and found that a lot had been accomplished recently. This structure closest to the fence has sprung up quite recently, and had workers actively building it while we watched.
In other construction news, just outside of the park gates at the future Resort dock, large palm trees have been planted in what is shaping up to be a very nice looking area.
Up by the loading area for the Resort Monorail, the temporary connection in between the Grand Floridian Walkway and the Resort Monorail Walkway is being demolished. The tent has been taken down, as has the raised walkway.
We had a wonderful time at the Magic Kingdom today, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
