It wouldn’t be the holidays without gingerbread, but the Holiday Tribute Store has put a twist on this traditional favorite. Inside the final room of the Tribute Store, you’ll find a display case full of Earl the Squirrel’s Sweet Treatz. We knew we had to make it through all of these seasonal snacks, but we were most excited for the Gingerbread Whoopie Pie.
Two small gingerbread cakes are filled with cream cheese frosting, dusted with powdered sugar, and topped by a small gingerbread candy. Cheerful red sprinkles line the edges of the frosting and give the treat a nice pop of color.
The cakes were a dense, dry type of gingerbread and were very fresh. The gingerbread flavor of the cake was was very light, but the cream cheese frosting added a creamy texture to each bite. The filling wasn’t too sweet and balanced the cake perfectly. If you’re burned out on overly sugary holiday snacks, then this is a great option. It’s flavorful without being too sweet.
This might not have been our favorite treat from the bakery, but it’s still worthy of being on our “nice list” of snacks. If you’re looking for a sweeter gingerbread treat, we would also suggest the Voodoo Doughnut Holiday Ornament.
The Gingerbread Whoopie pie is $4.99 from the bakery case inside the Holiday Tribute Store at Universal Studios Florida. Have you tried any of Earl the Squirrel’s Sweet Treatz yet?
