Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars film franchise, died on December 27, 2016. Mark Hamill starred as Luke Skywalker alongside Fisher in five Star Wars films. Today, Hamill payed tribute to Fisher on the fourth anniversary of her death.
Hamill’s Twitter tribute includes a Star Wars-style title card that reads, “In Loving Memory of our Princess Carrie Fisher.” Hamill also added the #AlwaysWithUs hashtag. The hashtag lead to numerous tributes to Fisher from Star Wars fans.
Fisher first appeared as Princess Leia in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope. Fisher reprised the role in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi. Fisher passed away before The Rise of Skywalker production began. Unused footage Fisher filmed for The Last Jedi was digitally inserted into The Rise of Skywalker.

Fisher acted in numerous films, including The Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally…, and Soapdish. An accomplished screenwriter, Fisher wrote the acclaimed Postcards From the Edge, which was based on her semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.
Fisher was born October 21, 1956 to Hollywood legends Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Fisher was 60 when she died. Interestingly, her mother passed away one day after Fisher.
