It will be some time before guests will once again be able to say “aloha” to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort by monorail. The monorail station is part of the resort’s extensive refurbishment. Construction crews are stripping the structure board-by-board.
A wide view of the monorail station, with the new Great Ceremonial House crossbeams behind, shows the scope of work.
A closer view reveals that sections of the monorail station roof have been removed.
Vertical boards have been cut in half.
Some uncut vertical boards remain near one emergency exit staircase.
Large roll-off dumpsters are on site.
The monorail station roof is still intact here.
Some roof sections have been removed from the monorail station.
Watch that first step! The bridge connecting the monorail station to the Great Ceremonial House is being demolished.
A closer look shows where the bridge connected to the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House.
When completed, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will have a new entrance facade and monorail station. Guest rooms are also being refurbished. Permits were recently filed for work at the Lava Pool.

Hope they don’t de-theme rooms like they did at Saratoga. Didn’t feel like I was at a Disney resort. Felt like a regular hotel. Ugh
Sad to see. Many years ago it was fun to rent the little yellow speed boats outside of the Polynesian Village. Never stayed at the Polynesian but did stay at the Contemporary. My next time going I’m a stay at the new Star Wars Hotel if I hear good reviews of it
I think it will be cost prohibitive next time I will be able to stay at the Polynesian. I hope they take into account to have microwaves and mini fridges into these costly rooms.
