Last year, James Rosemergy at TouringPlans.com attempted to become a “Disney Cyborg” by having a chip meant to duplicate the functions of a MagicBand implanted in his arm. Though his experiment did not work, he did interview a guest who had a custom chip created from a pre-existing MagicBand surgically implanted in her arm and was successfully able to use it as a MagicBand. In response to these experiments, Disney has added a label to MagicBand boxes warning users not to do this.
The sticker on the inside of a MagicBand box reads “Not for internal or subdermal use.”
MagicBands are pretty handy gadgets to have when visiting Walt Disney World but turning yourself into a custom MagicBand may not be the best route. Please follow Disney’s guidelines and stick with the external accessory.
New pick up lines for guests:
“Hey baby, what’s your OS?”
I can’t wait till this passes whatever regulation it needs to and we can do this 😆
Wow!
Haha this is GREAT! My name is Jen and I am that guest. I am SO FLATTERED the response to my experiment. Don’t worry Disney. I have never ONCE recommended anyone try this. I’m still the only Disney Cyborg. And so. The public health side of this was sooooooo worth it.
People get so many different types of body modifications nowadays. This seems pretty cool.
That is crazy to think of doing such a thing. As a physician myself, I would not do that procedure and don’t suggest anyone else to do so.
We all know what Forrest Gump would say about this!
Stupid is as stupid does. Just like gorilla glue
New for 2021;
Remote control theme park guests.
just when you think people cannot possibly become more lazy and stupid.
Except the opposite of your words. Someone had an idea, went out of their way to research the feasibility, did the legwork to find a way to make it happen, and actually did something. That’s neither lazy or stupid.
Subdermal implants are a thing and have been for a while. They will become more mainstream in the future, guaranteed. Disney just needed to CYA legally because that’s what a company does with a team of lawyers on the job.
Besides implanting they should also tattoo a magic band on the wrist where the chip is, so that everything looks totally legit.
