It’s day two of “A Touch of Disney” event, and we’re back at Disneyland Resort for some more Disney California Adventure fun. Yesterday, we were here for the opening of the event but still have more information and tips to share from today’s visit. Follow along, and we’ll take a look at characters around the park, PhotoPass opportunities, the Pixar Pier games, merchandise, and more!
Mickey & Friends parking structure opens at 11:30, with the event starting at noon. Today we waited about 20-30 minutes to finally park and be on our way to the park.
Cars are parked at a safe distance from each other.
Once heading down the escalators, you will walk through the tram loading station for temperature screenings and bag check.
While yesterday they had guests walking directly to bag check, today a Cast Member was stationed helping guide guests to the correct lines to avoid crowding.
New signage promoting the Disneyland app with a scannable QR code has been placed between the two parking structures.
When walking along the tram route towards Disney California Adventure, keep an eye out towards the left side to see a few vehicles from attractions such as Jungle Cruise, Casey Jr. Circus Train, and Pirates the Caribbean.
Today, guests were directed towards the front gate immediately after exiting the tram route, making for a much quieter morning than yesterday.
And, we’re in! We received our park entry ticket and our Disney dining card at the front gate when entering. Ensure you have your ticket either printed or linked to your Disney account before coming to the event — it will make your entry process way more manageable.
New Mickey Mouse grape glow cubes are available at this event for $5.50 at Carthay Circle and the Marketplace Cashier booths.
One of the biggest draws of this event is the distanced character meet and greets. Yesterday we covered all the available characters, but a second look never hurts.
Chip and Dale were hunting for acorns in Grizzly Peak along Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa.
Donald could also be seen dancing from the same area up on a balcony of the hotel.
Near Paradise Gardens, we caught Mickey and Minnie waving at guests from the Silly Symphony Swings.
Over on Pixar Pier, three of the games were open for free play today. Yesterday, the game card kiosk where you reload your playing cards was broken, and guests could play for free and win prizes. While today was still free to play, no prizes were being given.
As you can see to the right, the game card kiosks have been covered. Guests wait in physically distanced lines in front of the game they wish to play.
Plexiglass has been placed between every two chairs. A Cast Member sanitizes the area after each play.
Hopefully, we see this issue resolved so guests can back to playing for prize redemption.
Today for lunch, we stopped at the popular Golden Dreams booth in Grizzly Peak. This menu includes Carbonara Mac ‘n Cheese with white cheddar cheese sauce topped with Nueske’s Bacon, Parmesan, and red pepper panko crumbs, Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Wings served with Togarashi aïoli (from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar), and a Strawberry-Rose Lemonade (non-alcoholic). This booth did have a line stretching down Grizzly Peak today, so we recommend ordering ahead of time at one of the Marketplace Cashier booths so you can avoid the wait and pick up immediately.
We went with an event favorite, the Carbonara Mac ‘n Cheese and the Strawberry-Rose Lemonade. The dish was priced at $8.00 with the drink being $5.50.
In Cars Land, guests can have their photos taken by a PhotoPass photographer in a few different areas.
Make sure to keep that ticket handy as they will scan it to send the images to your phone.
Radiator Springs looked amazing today.
There was no wait to visit Mater and Lightning McQueen around 2 PM!
The Storytellers statue had quite the line today. Hollywood Land tends to be quieter than Cars Land and Pixar Pier, but nothing beats this photo opportunity.
We miss hearing the water roar at Grizzly River Run.
Onto Pacific Wharf! A D23 photo opportunity is available between Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and Boudin Bakery.
When 7 PM hit, it felt like half the park had been emptied.
Once the sun went down, most guests could be found sitting on the water watching the Pixar Pal-A-Round’s lights.
Pluto was up on the Silly Symphony Swings around 7:45 PM, right before the event ended.
We did one final walk around Pixar Pier.
If you want some space from others, we recommend walking to the exit of the park from Grizzly Peak as it always tends to be empty at night.
By 8:15 PM, almost everyone was heading out. They do allow guests to finish eating and finish taking pictures before closing the park.
Before leaving Disneyland Resort for the night, we headed over to World of Disney in Downtown Disney District to check out the merchandise. Four new glass sequin mugs are now available for $14.99 each.
That wraps up our second day at “A Touch of Disney” ticketed event in Disney California Adventure. Make sure to keep checking back as we will be attending the event the next two days of the event as well. Thanks for following along and comment below if you are attending this event!
