REVIEW: New Honey Bee Miniature Gateau Cake at Disney’s Grand Floridian is Un-Bee-lievably Good

Have you heard the buzz? A new, limited-time treat is available now at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This adorable miniature gateau is almost too cute to eat (but too tasty to resist). It joins the lineup of Earth Month treats available around Walt Disney World Resort.

Earth Day Honey Bee Miniature Gateau – $7.99

The presentation is just bee-utiful. The warm toasted meringue looks just like a nest (if bees’ nests were soft and delicious). It had a classic meringue flavor and was so light and airy that we almost couldn’t tell we were eating it.

The little sugar honeybees that adorn the cake are small and sweet.

The white chocolate honeycomb is decorated with edible gold paint.

The sugar honey bee floats above the hive, supported by a Grand Floridian logo topper.

Even the cake’s bee-hind is done to perfection (and that’s my last bee pun, I promise!).

The cake is a moist and dense buttermilk-honey chiffon that makes a good base for the almond mousse. The mousse is almond-flavored with a generous amount of actual almonds for a nice crunch.

The simple but balanced flavors and textures make this one of the more refined desserts available at Gasparilla Island Grill. It’s only available until April 22nd, and we highly recommend making a point to grab it before it’s gone.
