In an email to team members, Universal Orlando indicated that they would be making some changes to their pay structure for Team Members:
“Dear fellow Team Members,
It’s hard to believe that next week marks a year since we reopened our resort. I want you to know how much I appreciate each and every one of you for your herculean efforts over the past twelve months.
From the moment we reopened, you remained focused on keeping our Guests and fellow Team Members safe. You navigated through uncharted and sometimes difficult territory, both here at work and in your personal lives. All the while, you worked together to keep up with important adjustments and deliver extraordinary Guest experiences despite the circumstances. Thank you!
Today, I want to take a break from COVID and am excited to share with you some great news. Effective June 27, 2021, we will be increasing our starting base rate to $15 per hour, as well as increasing many of our starting rates across the business, up to and including entry-level salaried roles. In addition, many Team Members will receive a raise based on the new rates and their time with the company. We will provide more details on how this will personally affect you in the next few weeks.
Our Team Members, current and future, are the not-so-secret keys to our success. It’s Team Members like you who propel our brand forward. Every day, you bring your unique passion to work. You help create memories for millions of Guests. This is why we strive to be a place where you can shine, where you can feel part of a truly Universal family. This also is why we continually evaluate our compensation, perks, and benefits programs, and why we remain focused on Team Member satisfaction to provide the best work environment we can. It’s right there in our mission: we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where our Team Members are proud to work.
Again, thank you – for everything you’ve done to help us successfully deliver extraordinary Guest experiences over the past year – and thank you, for being part of our UOTM family. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
In appreciation,
Bill”
They will now be offering a base rate of $15 hour starting June 27th. Universal will be increasing many of their starting pay rates for new hires by doing this, and raising the salaries of existing employees as well.
Hear that, Disney??
Nice move by Universal
